This course is designed to give participants an overview of the New Testament, including its major thematic elements, its major historical events, and how it was written for the instruction and encouragement of the Christian church (Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:11). This course will be taught at the college freshman level.

In this course participants will gain an understanding of the:

Thematic elements of each New Testament book.

bullet

Historical context and background of the writings.

bullet

Relationship of the Old Testament to the New Testament.

 

After completing this course participants will be able to:

Articulate the overall themes of the New Testament books

bullet

Describe and compare the major genres of the New Testament

bullet

Make practical applications from the New Testament for everyday living

bullet

Show how the New Testament forms a single coherent message for today
